Hello everyone,
For this section of the blog, I'll review different movies (both Arabic and English).
So, the first movie I'll review is Asal Eswed which is obviously an Arabic movie. I've just watched it a couple of hours ago, so I thought I'd share with you what I think of it.
Staring Ahmed Helmy as Masry el Araby, an American-Egyptian citizian who travels back to his home town (Egypt) after living in the US for 20 years. This is one of Ahmed's non-comedic based movie. It portrayes the Egyptian society and the problems it faces in different everyday situations. He has this idea of Egypt being a wonderful and amazing coutry, but the idea soon crashes as he faces reality. After arriving in Egypt, Masry(Ahmed Helmy) is treated badly when he uses his Egyptian Passport. But as the movie progresses, he starts using his American Passport as an identification card and is paid a lot of respect. He faces many problems as he loses both passports, but he finds kind people who help him through his problems and finally regains possession of the passports.
The idea of the movie is great, but badly presented. Ahmed "over-did" his role which made it annoying to watch (to some extent). Both the directing and producing weren't bad. The cast members were nicley chosen, except for the lead role (Ahmed Helmy). The movie can get boring in some parts.
As a whole I didn't enjoy the movie, and wished it to be more interesting
